SO NOW WE HAVE THREE DOGS, TWO CATS, ONE TURTLE, AND TWO BIRDS. WTF. ... All we need now is something from the rodent category and our house will be a complete pet store. xD

Ok, so Mom was telling me since late October that she found some cockatiels on Freecycle. (Freecycle is a cool thing where people come online and give away their good unused stuff to people who need it. We got rid of our exercise bike last week LOL) ANYWAY. They do this to animals too, kind of like adoption without all that crazy stuff. I didn't believe her until I came home from work on Saturday, and lo-and-behold, there were two cockatiels in a huge cage in a part of our livingroom.

Now, I'm kinda weary of birds, cuz some of them bite and can be mean, etc. Plus they're super smart. Anyway, the first day, they were kinda quiet and shivery, so we went to Petco to get them some more supplies. The lady we got them from supplied some basics for the birds, but nothing FUN, you know? They had boring food, only one tiny ass mirror, and another toy. Boring. So we went on a shopping spree and got them some millet, a colorful seed stick with a honey coating to it, a larger mirror with more than one angle (kinda like one of those you see in some dressing rooms), and a disco-ball toy with a bell attached to it.

When we installed the toys, one of them immediately opened up and took to the mirror especially. He was adorable! Dancing and making a bunch of noise, lol. The other one was more quiet, but he started to move around. He liked the new interesting food.

The next day, on Sunday, we decided to open their cage to see if they'd like some outside time to stretch their wings and stuff. The shy one, surprisingly enough, was the only one to come out. Pretty soon, he was flying around all over the place! I actually had to turn the fan off really quick for fear of him flying too high and hurting himself. But he landed right on Mom and started talking to her! It was the cutest thing I'd ever seen. Then it came and landed on my shoulder. So. Adorable. That one's my favorite now. lawl.

When it was time to go to bed, we actually had a hard time getting it back in the cage! xD It landed on my head, so I tried to lean down to the cage door to get it to come in, but noooo. It just went back to the top of the cage like: 8D. We eventually had to get a small sheet and carefully capture it while it was on my shoulder again. It made the most pitiful tiny screaming noise when we did that (like Eeeeeeeee), but it was fine. We plan on letting them out again today when we get home. loll

Through all this the dogs had NO idea WTF was going on. We've been whistling and carrying on to get the birds used to us, and the dogs are used to whistles only for them to get them to come or whatnot, so they've been VERY confused for the last two days LOL. And when the bird flew around, they thought that it was enormous bug that they were supposed to catch, so we need to work on that part. XD Poor things have no idea what to do with these two new flying squeeky toys. I should've videotaped it so you guys could lol with me at how ridiculous these poor little dogs are. Even the cat had no clue what to do with a bird INSIDE the house. She was like: O_O the whole time. lolll

I'll be getting pictures of the birds soon, but not until they're used to living in our house. We don't want to totally scare them to death with the flash. XD

... Long journal is long. OH. I'll be dog-sitting again this week. 12th-14th, so I'll be online yaaaaay!
